Goals

  1. I want to complete my program successfully, completing my final requirements with pride. I will need to be in contact with my classmates and instructors to keep on track with the learning goals. This goal has been a lifelong goal, that will be accomplished by the end of May 2025. 
  2. I want to accomplish all of my assigned tasks in my position with confidence and grace. I will need to communicate and work well with the information literacy team and the library dean, my direct supervisors. I will do this from Feb3- July 31 as my contract states. 
  3. I want to obtain a full-time position after completing the 6-month contract with SUNY New Paltz. I need to be in contact with previous employers for references, I need to keep good relations with all previous coworkers and employers to build networks for my next position. I want this to be confirmed by the summer of 2025. 
  • Am I completing my course deliverables? What am i taking from the new information provided? Am I proud of my work? Are my instructors happy with my work? Was I rewarded with my degree? 
  • Am I excited to complete my work? Are the students learning from instruction sessions? What feedback are professors and supervisors giving to me? Am I proud of the work I am completing? 
  • Am I submitting my applications in enough time? Am I being asked for interviews? Am I prepared for interview questions? Am I receiving job offer(s)?
  • Yes. I have completed and excelled for the past 16 months of my program. The learnings I have taken from previous courses will support me through these last 2 months. I am motivated by my own investment in my education and my own personal goals. With the time I have, I may not achieve all expectations to the best of my ability and on time. 
  • I believe I do. I begin the work in February and will have a better understanding of my responsibilities then. I am motivated Through goals 1. and 3. I am motivated by the students I will serve and knowing that my supervisors trust me to succeed. 
  • I believe I can achieve this goal in the next 7 months. I will need to prove by the end of July that I can be successful in a professional position, I am committed to lifelong learning by continuing research and attending relevant professional conferences.
  • I am setting this goal now to prioritize my studies as my personal and professional life are in flux. This goal is aligned with the objectives of the course, as I intend to complete my requirements 
  • I am setting this goal now before I begin my position on Monday 2/3. This goal is aligned with the university objective of student success! 
  • I am setting this goal now as I understand academic hiring process to be long and the job market to be tough.  
  • End of March 2025. This needs to be realistic. In the first two weeks of my final quarter, I had to quit my job, move, and begin onboarding for my first faculty librarian position. I will not be paid as an accredited librarian until I receive my degree. I need to complete my final two courses despite my personal goals 
  • July 31st is the final day of my contract. I believe I can achieve my goal within these next coming months. 
  • I hope to find a permanent position in an academic library by mid-summer of 2025. I believe this is a realistic goal, in addition to my graduation in May, and having completed my first librarianship role by the end of July.
